Abstract. This paper is devoted to determining the most optimal design model of the soil for use in the calculation of deformations of largescale buildings and structures using the finite element method (FEM). As the main design models, two models will be used that are widely used in Plaxis PCs: the MohrCoulomb model, the hardening soil model. The results of deformation calculations, determined in Plaxis PC using the above models, are analyzed in comparison with the total settlement of the building, obtained from the results of geotechnical monitoring.
