Abstract. Selfhealing concrete is a product in which microorganisms will produce limestone to fill the cracks that appear on the surface of concrete structures. Specially selected types of bacteria of the genus Bacillus, a nutrient based on calcium, known as calcium lactate, as well as nitrogen and phosphorus, are added to the ingredients of the concrete when it is mixed. These means of selfhealing can be at rest in concrete for up to 200 years.
