Abstract. The technique of testing for central compression of models of steelconcrete columns with a core of ordinary and highstrength concrete with a thinwalled shell is described in the article. Comparative dependences of relative deformations in the axial and circumferential directions are presented depending on the relative loading levels, the value of the breaking load for samples from ordinary and highstrength concrete.
